[ oh, it's something from Kanji. That's cool EVERYTHING'S COOL it's
not a big thing to stress about really. Like for serious. ]
sup. Yeah sure I can be up in a minute. Just give me a
sec to wrap stuff up with Riley?
[ That stuff will mostly be clasping hands with her and shrieking,
but he doesn't need to know that. He can cut straight to the part where she
very casually glides up into the diner and doesn't do anything out of the
ordinary at all. Because whatever. It's just another say right? ]
[He's almost impressed with how cool-headed he sounds-- to a person who had only ever communicated with him via text, probably. When Maya does show up, Kanji is sitting on a stool in front of the counter, having hung his apron up a few minutes earlier. Souji wouldn't need him for cleanup for awhile, and he'd actually had a chance to use the kitchen to make some of the more advanced stuff he'd been learning about in their recent cooking lessons.]
H-hey.
[He smiles shyly-- really, he'd never guess that Maya doesn't have it totally together, considering he's the one who's always blushing.]
[His face flushes as it so often does, and he doesn't do much to mask his surprise when she puts a box in front of him-- from what he'd heard, that wasn't as common where she was from.]
Here, I've got yours--
[He pulls a box out from where he'd had it stashed underneath the counter in wait. It's heart-shaped, naturally, and while the chocolates inside aren't hand-painted, he had used custom molds to make all different shapes. Plus, he has more for her than just candy, but that part can wait-- just for a moment.
Passing her the box, he reaches for the one she'd brought, carefully opening the lid. Again, he looks surprised, but his smile pulls a little wider, lopsided.]

Maya casually slides into the seat beside him, plopping a nondescript box into the tabletop. The important thing is not letting him see her sweat. ]
So I guess it's a holiday or something. Figured I might as well get the giving out of the way first.
[ It's just some artisinal dark chocolate she spent hours painting with melted white chocolate BUT. YOU KNOW. WHATEVER. ]

These are hand-made.
[He can tell just by looking.]
You-- you did this for me?
