[He watches her slip the necklace out from under her shirt and the pendant on the end of the chain makes his lips twitch up into a smile. Gold and diamonds--it's a combination of Leonard and Lisa, in Cisco's mind, and he can't help wonder if Leonard sees a bit of Lisa in Maya.
[-- but Maya keeps talking, oblivious to whatever it was he was going to say.]
So I guess it's like. I mean, look. I'm a New Yorker. I know how to take care of myself. I know what to do when someone pulls out a knife, or if someone gets a little grabby on a subway. But the kind of stuff that happens here? It's bigger. So I need something bigger too.
[She tucks the pendant away, hesitant to leave it exposed for too long. It belongs over her heart.]
[He snaps his mouth shut when she barrels on, but he doesn't say anything for a moment, listens like he'd promised he would. He nods a little, wheels are turning, but he's got to have more time to get concrete ideas.]
All right.... if you give me some time, let me sketch some stuff out and see what I can come up with...I'll get you something made. Something real.
[He nods, hiding a smile at the too-familiar thought process. He'd learned that awhile ago-- hope less, disappointed less, but it worked out less in practice than in theory in his case because he still ended up hoping for things or believing when he shouldn't.]
Then I'll just make sure to make a believer out of you. [He smirks softly and taps the table with one hand before pushing himself to his feet.] I'll see you around, Maya.
